Insights that I have had during this course is how to do research. I also learn how to read journal articles. That you only have to read a few sections and not the whole journal article. That was nice because it cut down the reading time.

To be honest my idea about during research have not changed. Coming onto this course I stated that I did not like to do research. I stated that I was open for that to changed. After taking this course I still do not like doing research. It is not my cup of tea. Research is not for everyone.

I have learned so much about research in this class. I have learned that there are different designs in research. I never knew that before I always thought it was all the same. I knew there were different ways to conduct research but never realized what they were and when to do the different ways.

The challenges I encountered was trying to stay interested in the course. Research is not for me and that made it very hard to actually sit down and so my homework. What made me get through it is know that this is a course and that I may still learn things even if I do not like research.

I do not really think my perception has changed in the early childhood profession. I feel that is very important just as I did before the course. I still feel research needs to be done by the people that love research. I also still feel that that is still a lot to learn about the early childhood field.

  1. Cheryl,

I know where you are coming from when you can you had to push yourself to do the coursework. I felt the same way. coming into this class I didn't like research and coming out of the class I feel about the same. It was nice to have the discussion with other classmates about their research simulations. And I thought the charts were helpful, but this class did take alot out of me. Hope to see you in future courses! Hoe you have a good Holiday =) - - Amanda Taylor

  2. I agree! I found this assignments in this course were a struggle to complete, as I am also not a fan of conducting research. I am glad to see it end, and hope that the rest of the classes are not as difficult. I wish you much success in the future!

  3. Hi Cheryl,
I would agree with you, research isn't for every one. As a early childhood professional, I think it is great to know that research is not for you. I'm the same way, research is not for me, but I find the information helpful when working with young children that are struggling along the way in their development. I feel that I have more respect for researchers in the early childhood field, for putting together a study to find data that early childhood professionals can use to help and support young children and their families to be successful in life.

  4. Hi Cheryl,
I see that everyone agree on the same thing about doing research. i am not a fan of doing research and I really don't understand what to do at times. I always have problems with knowing what to research and how to research it. I always fear that I am not getting enough information to make a good paper. I get stuff as to what to say verses quoting everything from the research material and then I am afraid not to quote it fearing its not enough information. I too am glad this class is over. I have enjoyed all the ideas and suggestion from the class and instructor as a whole. i will take all I have learned to do better with future researches. The information was very informational and well perceived. Good luck in future classes.

  5. Hi Cheryl,
I also agree with your post. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful information. I know that being a researcher is not for everyone. I am not sure that I would want to work in that field. Learning about how to research properly would make me build on my research papers more and understand all the components that I need to complete. Good luck in your future classes.
