I have found many things that are helpful on the NAEYC website. I still want to become a member but I am not able to become a member at this time. One of the links that I followed were to the affiliates of NAEYC. I knew Michigan had MiAEYC but I had know idea that each region of Michigan had a local chapter. Looking at the chair people of the chapter I know a lot of them. I would like to contact them and see how to become involved.

With me wanting to be part of a member of the NAEYC I decided to search the benefits section of the website. I saw that there is three benefit packages. They all offer the same thing but only one of them offers six cutting edge books. Digging further into this they list six reason why to become a member.

I have signed up for a newsletter but have not yet received any newsletter yet. I am not sure if something went wrong while filling out the form.

The website does have things for equity and excellence in Early Childhood. They show training's and different articles for professionals to read.

I did not see anything pertaining to different languages but I did find things pertaining to different ethics.

  1. Hi Cherly,
I hope you are able to become a member of your local affiliate soon.(They have big discounts for students!) I have learned so much from the board members of my local affiliate who include the executive director of Head Start in our area, the director of our community resources for children, and ECE educators from our community colleges. I make it a point to attend the meetings every other month and meet so many people who are making a difference in our community! These individuals help me to understand how change can truly happen at our local level!

  2. Cheryl,

I would love to join the NAEYC organization too. When I taught pre-kindergarten I was able to attend conferences and special training days since the early childhood center that I worked at was NAEYC accredited. It took a lot of work to become NAEYC accredited, but I was so proud to say that we accomplished that goal!

  3. Cheryl,
Becoming a member of your local affiliate is a great idea. I am currently a member of NAEYC due to work, I need to look into my local chapter though. I would love to attend a meeting if I could. Become a member would be great networking and also you would be making a difference in your area for early childhood! Good Luck!
